Stephanie Merulla is an award-winning Montreal-based theatre and multimedia artist with a passion for creating immersive and interactive experiences that blur the boundaries between analogue and digital storytelling. With a diverse background spanning international collaborations, Stephanie's artistic journey has been marked by exploration at the intersection of storytelling, immersive experiences, and audience engagement.

Her artistic endeavors have taken her across the globe, collaborating with companies such as Live Action Theatre Project in Montreal, Canada, It’s Not a Box Theatre in Saskatoon, Canada, Cambridge Shakespeare Festival in the United Kingdom, Stitch’n Fiction, Untied Kingdom. Whitehorse Theatre Company in Germany, and the Live Art Performance Platform in Nicosia, Cyprus. 

Stephanie holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Essex, East 15 Acting School, where she honed her craft as an actor, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre from Concordia University, where she began her artistic multidisciplinary exploration as a research assistant under Sandeep Bhagwati, Canada’s Research Chair X-Inter arts at the Matralab/Hexagram. 

Recently, her work on 'Meet Me' by Live Action Theatre Project earned her the 2022/2023 Outstanding Contribution to the Theatre META Award. She has also served as a producer for innovative productions like 'Overhear' by It’s Not a Box Theatre in Paris, France.

Stephanie's artistic vision is fueled by her fascination with the emotional and empathetic responses elicited from audiences through immersive storytelling experiences. She is committed to pushing the boundaries of artistic expression by seamlessly integrating analogue and digital art forms, creating works that inspire wonder and provoke thought.

As an actor, Stephanie is a proud member of ACTRA in Canada and Equity UK, showcasing her dedication to her craft and her contributions to the performing arts community on both sides of the Atlantic.
